Steve White, Director

Steve White is a native of Paris, Texas. He studied at The University of Texas at Austin, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree with teacher certification, and a Masters Degree in Choral Conducting. While in graduate school, Mr. White directed the UT Longhorn Singers, assisted Dr. Craig Hella Johnson with UT Concert Chorale and performed with the Chamber Singers. In the Spring of 1998, the School of Music honored Steve with its Most Outstanding Masters Student award.

He was Music Director of the annual UT Madrigal Dinner from 1995-1999, and also performed on numerous occasions with The Victoria Bach Festival, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Austin, The Austin Choral Arts Society and Conspirare.

Steve spent two years on the summer faculty at the Leysin American School in Switzerland. He is the founder and Director of Amphion Youth Choir, a summer community vocal group for ages 15-23. He was Head Director of the Round Rock HS Choir Department from 1998 through 2009, and served as the Associate Choral Director at Vista Ridge High School from 2009 to 2011. He became the sole director at VRHS in 2012, and has begun his 15th year teaching public school in Texas this fall.
